Unless courage bagels and the landlords were incahoots I have no idea why you would hold them accountable for the landlord wanting to change tenets. If courage bagels didn't move in it would only be someone else. The fact they're willing to sell doñas pan dulce shows they're not forgetting the history of the neighborhood.
Courage Bagels are by far the best imo, but if you want something more NY style then definitely go to Maury's (infinitely less line). Pop's Bagels should get a shoutout, and Yeastie Boys makes some damn good breakfast bagels, though the bagels themselves are only okay.
