For a fancier style, 45'' with a multi stacked crown would work. 12'' of molding is just too much for 9' ceilings, but would work on 10' with stacked cabinets. We have ten foot ceilings in the kitchen (also doing shaker cabinets). I am having trim made to have it go to the ceiling.
