Litter robot will not cycle

I've had a litter robot for about 4 years and not having to scoop every day has been magical. However, despite my best efforts, it smells. I wipe it down every day or two, empty it weekly and deep clean in my tub every month. This is a major hassle in an apartment and downright gross. I've tried every kind of clumping litter under the sun.
