Shogun 2 is the simplest and easiest to learn. I caught on to just about all the mechanics by my 2nd or 3rd campaign. There are plenty of newbies who have started at Warhammer though, a huge number. There is a steep learning curve for these games, but once you get the hang of it it gets really fun. Shogun 2 is the easiest.
